31.03.2010 – That Green Slide

I wonder if someone still loves Kareem or if someone else has taken his place. I will have to go back one day to see.

Song pairing: Brilliant Disguise – Bruce Springsteen

30.03.2010 – Old Blanket

Behind us there is a sea of white geese, speed waddling all beady eyed and nervously away as we run closer, trying to scoop them up in our arms. Futile, as we know can’t catch a single one, but so worth trying.

Song pairing: Two Daughters And A Beautiful Wife - Drive-By Truckers

Monday, March 29, 2010

29.03.2010 – Church

I turn around to face the crowd, animatedly chatting away, this one with that one and even so-and-so with that other girl with the long hair. Some almost-strangers in deep conversation rising as white noise into the air. A stark contrast to everyone silenced in prayer.

Song pairing: Deseparecido – Manu Chau

Andy somehow found himself stuck amidst the treks and journeys when all he wanted to do is stay at home.

Song pairing: 3005 - Scars on Broadway

Saturday, March 27, 2010

27.03.2010 – Vygies

Inexplicably irrisistable, like popping bubble-wrap bubbles one by one, we used to pick a delicate, succulent leaf at a time and peer inside the wound, amazed by the liquid, our still small bare feet dangling in the sand.

Song pairing: Big In Japan - Alphaville

Thursday, March 25, 2010

25.03.2010 – Red Divider

I close one eye and look at the world through red triangle frames, each section part of the whole, yet a perfect picture within a picture.

Song pairing: Stay Tuned - Robert Wyatt

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

24.03.2010 – Heart Table

If this was my table, I would carry it everywhere, all the time. There is no time for anything but peace and love if you stop, untuck the legs from around your rib cage and then set tea for two with anyone, anywhere talking about life or perhaps just this and that.

Song pairing: Call It A Ritual - Wolf Parade

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

23.03.2010 – Sparkle Slippers

How grown up you are now in your slightly-too-big sparkle slippers.

Monday, March 22, 2010

22.03.2010 - Dog Paw

How blessed are the animals in this world that live a life filled with love, warmth and food, as irreplaceable members of a family. I am reminded daily how many are not. Initially this broke my heart, but now awareness has made me stronger.

19.03.2010 – Guitar Case

Behind the case is the green cupboard and in the cupboard is a tin and in the tin is a host of treasures, collected since childhood. Amongst which a little plastic crocodile, a key ring of Black Beauty and sweet wrappers from that day in the woods.

16.03.2010 – Wooden Horse

I have just messed a drink down the front of my dress. If I did not stop reluctantly to wipe it with the cloth you handed me, I may not have looked down to see the perfectly curved neck of this wooden rocking horse.

Song pairing: Wild Horses - Rolling Stones

Monday, March 15, 2010

15.03.2010 – Glasses

Underneath the table two small children are playing. They have never met until today, but are now the firmest friends and partners in crime giggling at their own jokes.

Song pairing: Light Years - Heather Nova

Sunday, March 14, 2010

14.03.2010 – Alley

Imagine running through as fast as you can, only to emerge, out-of-breath and panting, in another city. You would take a moment to let everything sink in, bent over forwards, your shaking hands resting firmly on your bent knees before you uncurl to stand up slowly, looking up and around, camera panning in true movie-style fashion.

Song pairing: Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden

Saturday, March 13, 2010

13.03.2010 – East Coast

When I close my eyes, I remember watching the wave break to completion, smell the rain-wet sand and hear the barking of the dog running unseen in the foreground.

Song pairing: Sonnet – The Verve

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

10.03.2010 – Paintbrush

06.03.2010 – Madonna

Above me the sky is black with crows. They chase one another from the bare branches with raucous caws. It is really cold. A shiver runs down my spine.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

02.03.2010 - Yellow Cupboard

Filled to the brim with letters from all over the world, I dare not open the door as they may rain onto the floor. Even a mere glimpse of one will lead to reading another and yet another. Letters received with such anticipation in joy or sometimes completely out of the blue. A few are falling apart, others hold memories captured, old-school style, in pen on paper. The airmail pack is held together by satin ribbon. Some of the authors have long since passed, with only their hand-writing remaining.

Song pairing: Wildflowers - Ryan Adams

Monday, March 1, 2010
